Birdtail Ranch History

Doug and Nancy Dear started Birdtail Ranch in the late 1940s. The are recognized as two of the founders of the Quarter Horse business in the State of Montana. They did much to advance the breed and the association throughout the years, although they had no intention of getting into the horse business when they started out.

In 2011, the American Quarter Horse Association will induct Doug and Nancy Dear into the Hall of Fame.
